What are the best logs to burn in a woodburning stove?
Soft wood kindling and firelighters are used to start your fire, followed by well-seasoned hardwood logs such as Ash, Oak, Beech, Birch, Elm, and Poplar. We sell locally-sourced well seasoned logs by the bag.

How do I know if the wood is dry enough to use?
Never use freshly cut wood as it is too high in moisture content (65-90%). For best results, wood should have a moisture content of less than 20%. To ascertain the moisture content of your logs you can use a moisture metre. Removing the excess moisture from logs is called seasoning and involves air drying the wood, which can take up to two years. You should store your wood outside in a well-ventilated, covered shelter. Kiln dried wood is available to buy but is not as environmentally friendly as air dried wood, which we supply from our store in Malmesbury.

What coal can I burn on my multi-fuel stove?
Manufactured smokeless fuels such as Ecobritte, Homefire, Phurnacite or Anthracite.

I don’t have a chimney so will I be able to have a woodburning stove?
Our fitters can install an insulated twin wall chimney system, which will clear your roof by at least one metre. This doesn’t require planning permission but it is advisable to inform your adjacent neighbours.

Do I need a Carbon Monoxide Detector?
New building regulations introduced in October 2010 require that a carbon monoxide detector be fitted in a room that has had a solid fuel appliance is installed. We fit these as a matter of course when we install your woodburner.
